Combining gorilla trekking in the Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offers an unparalleled wildlife experience. Trekking through the dense, misty forests of southern Uganda brings you face-to-face with mountain gorillas while giving you a chance to explore the unique features of each sector. Since the two sectors are close to each other, planning a combined trek is both convenient and rewarding.
Rushaga Sector is one of the four sectors in Bwindi and is renowned for its many habituated gorilla families. It is also the only sector where tourists can take part in the gorilla habituation experience, offering a closer and longer encounter with these gentle giants. Nkuringo is also perfect for combining gorilla trekking with boat rides on Lake Mulehe or Lake Mutanda, and it is less steep compared to Rushaga.
