Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi, Kenya
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your journey begins with a warm welcome from our professional safari guide. After a short briefing, you transfer to your hotel in Nairobi for an overnight stay, allowing you to relax and prepare for the wild days ahead.
Day 2: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, you drive through the Great Rift Valley, absorbing the changing landscapes as you head to the world-renowned Maasai Mara. You arrive in time for lunch, followed by your first thrilling afternoon game drive. The open plains come alive with zebras, wildebeests, elephants, and big cats.
Day 3: Full-Day Game Drives in Maasai Mara
You rise early for a full day in the Mara, exploring the reserve’s diverse terrain and tracking the Big Five. With a packed lunch in hand, you venture deep into the reserve. Optional hot air balloon rides offer a breathtaking aerial view of the sunrise-lit plains.
Day 4: Transfer to Uganda via Kisumu and Lake Victoria Region
Today, you begin your journey to Uganda, traveling westward through Kisumu along Lake Victoria’s shores. After immigration clearance at the Kenya-Uganda border, you continue to your lodge near Jinja or Entebbe for a relaxing evening.
Day 5: Travel to Kibale Forest National Park
After an early breakfast, you head to the famous Kibale Forest, the primate capital of East Africa. As the landscape changes from savannah to lush rainforest, your anticipation builds for the next day’s chimpanzee encounter. You spend the night near the park, surrounded by beautiful forest views.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest and Bigodi Swamp Walk
With the morning mist still hanging in the trees, you enter Kibale Forest accompanied by expert trackers. The experience of following the sounds of chimps until you finally meet them is magical. In the afternoon, you visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers.
Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Boat Safari
You drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and birds gather at the water’s edge. This channel offers one of the most concentrated wildlife sightings in Uganda.
Day 8: Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, where lions often roam, you journey to the southwest towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Nestled in the highlands, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. You overnight in a serene lodge near the forest edge.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest
Today is the highlight of your entire safari. After a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, you hike through dense forest trails to find a gorilla family. The moment you first lay eyes on these gentle giants, observing their behavior and social bonds, is deeply moving and unforgettable. The trek can be strenuous, but the reward is beyond measure.
Day 10: Return to Entebbe and Departure
After breakfast, you begin your journey back to Entebbe. You pass through scenic hills, terraced farms, and traditional villages. Depending on your flight schedule, you may stop at the equator for photos and craft shopping. Upon arrival in Entebbe, your guide drops you off at the airport, marking the end of an incredible 10-day adventure.
