A Rwanda Gorilla Safari offers more than a trip; it delivers a profound connection with nature. Nestled in the misty mountains of Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda provides one of the most accessible and ethically responsible gorilla trekking experiences in the world. Over three unforgettable days, you will explore lush landscapes, immerse yourself in Rwandan culture, and encounter mountain gorillas up close.

Small group trekking ensures both a personalized and ethical wildlife experience.
Upon arriving at Kigali International Airport (KGL), your professional driver-guide will warmly welcome you. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore Kigali with a short city tour, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, or sampling Rwandan coffee at a bustling cafe.
Next, drive north to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park, taking approximately 2.5 hours. Along the way, admire Rwanda’s rolling hills, terraced fields, and traditional villages. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and choose between eco-luxury, mid-range, or budget options. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying a hearty dinner under the starlit African sky.
After an early breakfast, transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Small groups of eight are assigned to one of twelve habituated gorilla families to minimize human impact and ensure a safe encounter for both visitors and gorillas.
The trek through the lush rainforest usually lasts between one and six hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Trails may be muddy and steep, winding through bamboo forests and dense vegetation. Then comes the unforgettable moment: observing the silverback, juveniles, and mothers with infants for a full hour an experience that will stay with you forever.
After trekking, return to your lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, opt for a visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where local guides introduce you to Rwandan traditions, music, dance, and handicrafts. Conclude the day with dinner at the lodge, sharing stories of your transformative wildlife encounter with fellow travelers.
On your final day, choose between a morning golden monkey trek or a leisurely breakfast with panoramic volcano views. Golden monkeys, colorful and playful, inhabit the lower slopes of the Virunga Mountains, providing a delightful addition to your primate encounters.
Afterward, enjoy a scenic drive back to Kigali, taking in Rwanda’s lush landscapes one last time. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport for your onward flight or to a hotel, concluding your unforgettable safari.
