Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your professional driver-guide from Experiya Tour Company will warmly welcome you. As you begin your journey, you will immediately notice why Kigali is considered one of Africa’s cleanest and safest cities.

From Kigali, enjoy a scenic 2.5–3-hour drive north to Volcanoes National Park. Along the way, terraced hillsides, banana plantations, and vibrant rural life unfold before you. Your guide will happily share stories and insights about Rwanda’s culture, history, and conservation success.

By late afternoon, you will arrive in Musanze, the gateway town to Volcanoes National Park. After checking into your lodge, take time to relax, breathe in the cool mountain air, or enjoy a gentle walk around the property. Later, savor a delicious dinner as you prepare for the unforgettable experience ahead.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – A Soul-Stirring Encounter

Wake up early to the sounds of nature, knowing that today brings one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences on Earth.

After breakfast, your guide will escort you to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a detailed briefing. Here, park rangers will assign you to a habituated gorilla family and introduce the expert trackers who will lead your trek.

The gorilla trek lasts anywhere between 1 to 5 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Although the terrain can be challenging, the reward is beyond words. Suddenly, through the dense forest, you come face to face with a mountain gorilla family. Watching them feed, groom, play, and rest is profoundly moving.

You will spend one precious hour quietly observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat an experience that feels humbling, powerful, and deeply emotional.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later in the afternoon, you may choose an optional cultural visit to nearby communities to learn about Rwandan traditions and conservation-led livelihoods.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking & Return to Kigali

Begin your final day with another early start, this time for a lighter yet equally rewarding experience.

After breakfast, head back into the forest to track the golden monkeys, a rare and endangered species found only in the Virunga region. Unlike gorilla trekking, this walk is generally easier and filled with playful energy. Golden monkeys leap effortlessly through bamboo trees, offering fantastic photography opportunities and joyful moments.

After spending about an hour with the monkeys, return to the lodge to freshen up and enjoy brunch. Later, begin your scenic drive back to Kigali.

If time allows, your guide can arrange a brief Kigali city tour, including options such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, or a panoramic city drive. Finally, you will transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure.

Though the journey is short, the memories will last a lifetime.
